Clarisonic
A promotional photo gallery for the Clarisonic Aria cleansing brush released on 2014 by L'Oréal. Photography, 3D, and photo manipulation.
Role
I was given Clarisonic’s brand guidelines and the product itself. My mission was to create high resolution photographs of the product, and a range of abstract images that reinforced the central concepts of equilibrium, and ‘balance is achieved through constant motion’.

The process
All of the elements were shot independently so that L'Oréal's social media team had the option of rearranging slightly if necessary. I tried a number of options and took rough photos of the product in diffent angles and states. A new background was added and I selectively created glowing effects and brightened the image up to give them a "beauty spa" look.

Bringing Clarisonic Aria to life
Product Retouching is a much more precise form of photographic retouching. The aim is to enhance the photographic image and accentuate the individual details using a variety of methods to create an end image that, in many cases, would not be able to be created in the camera alone. Examples of this might include:
Fusing together multiple exposures or selectively masking different exposures to get a fuller range of detail in shadows and highlights.
Selectively masking shots lit at different angles to eliminate ugly shadows caused by lighting a particular part of the product
Using Adobe Illustrator artwork to replace logos that might be blurry / work and damaged in transit.
Using 3D modelling for special effects. In this case, several renders of splashing water were created to visually increase a sense of freshness.
Images are pathed and masked off, so the backgrounds can be altered at a later stage, or the path used for automatic clipping in page layouts.
