Mango: The Everlasting Days

Design and development of a demo proposal for Mango clothing company.

Role

My role was a broad one taking in graphic and interaction design, prototyping and front-end development, the most notable part of this being in helping develop a graphic and interaction language which would go on to be used by thousands of blog readers.

NDA DISCLAIMER:

In compliance with the non-disclosure agreement I signed back then, I have omitted sensitive data and obfuscated figures. All information in this case study is my own and does not reflect the views of WiZink nor Mango.

The task

Mango reached us (Optinator) out to develop a quick but intimate survey that would be placed on their blog edit "The Everlasting Days" from their spring / summer 2016 collection. Even though summer collections are often more colorful and "beach-inspired” Mango wanted something more elegant, intimate and conversational.

Blog post I used as my north star and inspiration to develop the concept.

Personalization at its best

Product and website design is not just an art; it’s also a science. To get the best results, we proposed Mango to conduct A/B testing: a controlled process of testing two or more versions of the same demo, using design as the main focus to see which one produces better results.

  • Questions made on the demo were shifted, using emotion as key role to formulate them. This also went in hand with the design, and the pieces from the SS 2016 collection.

  • Shuffling these questions but also integrating key items would let Mango know which piece could be a “best seller”.

  • From the design standpoint, I executed the graphic design part of the demo, choosing carefully the images provided by the client, but pairing them up with the blog voice & tone, and, more importantly, establishing a connection with the story: a mandatory girls-only pool party in Casa Ulrich.

Will they attend to the pool party? A/B testing will decide.

Blog has been decommissioned after all these years, but the demo is still available here.
